Commercial Properties We Service in Chesterfield Township

We build commercial pavement for properties that have to stay open, carry traffic, and shed water without creating liability. In Macomb, the section has to match the site use, not just the square footage.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where asphalt has to protect ADA routes, keep parking stalls readable, and handle steady turning movement at entrances and cart corrals.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where heavier axle loads, truck turns, and dock traffic demand a stronger pavement section and tighter compaction control.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where drive aisles, guest parking, and fire lanes need a smooth surface that drains correctly and stays serviceable for residents and management.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where schools, offices, and public sites need pavement that supports high use, clear circulation, and long-term maintenance planning.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Chesterfield Township Asphalt Paving Standards

Our Asphalt Paving lasts longer in Chesterfield Township because we build it from the bottom up, not just on top. Water is the first thing that ruins pavement, so we shape drainage to move runoff away from the surface and keep it out of the base. We also rebuild weak sub-base areas before paving, which stops settlement, edge breakup, and rutting around truck paths. Then we use material that holds up through Michigan freeze-thaw cycles instead of drying out and cracking early. That approach costs less over time because property managers avoid repeat patches, emergency repairs, and premature replacement.

  • Drainage first: We grade for positive runoff so water does not sit in low spots or work down into the structure.
  • Solid base: We correct weak sub-base conditions before paving, which keeps the surface from moving under traffic.
  • Cold-weather mix: We place asphalt suited for freeze-thaw stress so the lot stays tighter through winter and spring.

Common Asphalt Paving Projects We Handle in Chesterfield Township

  • Retail lot resurfacing near the Gratiot corridor: Property managers usually call after the surface starts raveling, the turn lanes polish out, and snowplow traffic opens the same edges every winter. We mill the worn top course, check the base at entrances and cart paths, then replace it with the right thickness so daily traffic stops breaking down the same wheel paths.
  • Industrial apron repair by 23 Mile and I-94: Heavy trucks expose weak spots fast, especially where trailers brake, swing, and sit loaded at dock aprons. We cut out failed sections, verify subgrade support before patching, and rebuild those areas so the pavement can carry repetitive axle loads without rutting or punching through again.
  • ADA and access upgrades along Hall Road: A lot can be structurally sound and still create problems if slopes, transitions, or crossings do not line up right. We rework those areas with proper grading and paved tie-ins so accessible routes stay usable, water moves off the surface, and property managers are not left dealing with trip hazards or ponding at the wrong curb line.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Chesterfield Township Projects

Our Chesterfield Township paving work stays with our own W2 crews from saw cut to final roller pass, using company-owned pavers, rollers, and support trucks so the job never gets split between different outfits. We do not hand asphalt work to subcontractors, which keeps the schedule tight, the workmanship consistent, and the accountability direct for the property manager standing on the lot with us.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Chesterfield Township Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before crews break ground, so your team does not get stuck chasing forms or city steps. For work in Chesterfield Township, we pull the required Dumpster and ROW permits through the Township Building Department, then coordinate MissDig before any excavation starts. That keeps utility marks in place, reduces avoidable delays, and keeps the regulatory burden off the property manager while we manage the site from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions about Asphalt Paving in Chesterfield Township

When is the best time to schedule paving?

Late spring through early fall gives us the best working window because the base dries out and compaction locks in. In Chesterfield Township, that timing cuts down on cold-ground movement and keeps you from paying for rework after wet weather pushes the pavement around.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the lot so traffic can still move, usually by breaking the work into sections and keeping clear access for customers and deliveries. We plan those cutovers around your busiest hours so the project does not stall operations or create avoidable downtime.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We stop water from getting into cracks and weak edges before freeze-thaw starts working on them. Once water reaches the base, winter damage moves fast, so sealing openings early is cheaper than repairing settled areas in Macomb after spring breakup shows up.

Soft edges, ponding, and early cracking do not fix themselves, they spread into the base and turn a manageable paving job into a larger repair. Call D&J Contracting for a free evaluation and quote in Chesterfield Township, and we will look at the lot, explain what the pavement actually needs, and give you a clear next step.
