We stay active on commercial concrete work across Memphis, handling slab replacements, curb repairs, sidewalk failures, and dock aprons for properties that need support under traffic and clean drainage at the edge. Explore the map and project pins below to see where we have worked and how our field methods hold up on real jobs.

Commercial Properties We Service in Memphis

We build commercial concrete around how each site actually moves people, freight, and water in Memphis, so the slab, curb, or walkway supports daily use instead of becoming a repair line.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where ADA access, entry pads, and curb returns have to stay level under cart traffic, snow storage, and constant foot traffic.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, loading areas, and approach slabs need the bearing strength to handle forklifts, delivery trucks, and repeated point loads.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where sidewalks, drives, and common area concrete must control trip hazards, drainage issues, and maintenance calls from residents.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where public walkways, service pads, and access routes need stable support, proper slope, and long-term durability under steady use.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Memphis Concrete Contractor Standards

Our concrete work lasts longer in Memphis because we treat the slab as a drainage system first and a finished surface second. If water sits at the edge, finds a weak base, or works into joints, the concrete starts moving and breaking down early. We avoid that by shaping runoff away from the slab, rebuilding support under the pour, and using mix and finish details that hold up through Michigan freeze-thaw cycles. That saves property managers money because they deal with fewer callbacks, fewer patch jobs, and less disruption to tenants and traffic.

  • Drainage first: We set slope so water leaves the slab instead of soaking into joints and edges. That reduces spalling, settlement, and the kind of damage that turns a small repair into a larger replacement.
  • Firm sub-base: We do not cover up soft support and hope it holds. Proper excavation, grading, and compaction keep the slab from pumping under load, which cuts down on early cracks and uneven panels.
  • Freeze-thaw ready: We build for Michigan weather, not just day-one appearance. Concrete that handles repeated freezing and thawing stays serviceable longer, which means fewer emergency repairs for owners managing sites near Gratiot Avenue and 23 Mile Road.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in Memphis

  • Retail centers along Hall Road usually call us after cart traffic, snow storage, and repeated thaw cycles break down entry walks and curb returns. We remove the failed concrete, verify the subgrade, correct drainage at the door line, then reset the slab so water moves away instead of sitting where pedestrians step.
  • Industrial properties near Mound Road often need dock aprons and loading pads rebuilt after truck traffic starts to pump the base and open joints. We cut back to sound material, rebuild weak support, place the new section for the actual wheel load, and keep the edge detail tight so forklifts and trailers do not chew it up early.
  • ADA updates around downtown Memphis usually start with trips at sidewalk panels, mismatched curb ramps, or settled entrances that no longer meet grade. We rework the approach, adjust slopes at the landing, and tie the new concrete into existing walks so access stays level without creating a new drainage problem.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Memphis Projects

Our Memphis concrete work stays in house from layout to final cleanup, and every crew member is a fully insured W2 employee using company-owned heavy equipment. We do not hand slab replacement, curb repair, sidewalk work, or dock aprons to subcontractors, which keeps the schedule tight, the finish standards consistent, and the accountability squarely with us when a property manager needs straight answers on site.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Memphis Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before any concrete gets cut or poured, so property managers do not have to chase forms or wait on field decisions. Our team files what the Memphis Building Department requires, pulls the needed Dumpster and ROW permits through the city process, and coordinates MissDig 811 locates before excavation starts. That keeps utilities marked, keeps the job in compliance, and takes the regulatory burden off your plate while we focus on the slab, the base, and the drainage that support it.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in Memphis

When should we schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the best curing window because temperature and moisture stay more stable. In Memphis, that timing usually cuts down on cold-weather protection and avoids delays that drive labor costs up.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so access stays open where it has to, then we set clear closure points for each pour and cure period. That keeps traffic moving, limits downtime, and reduces the chance of a rushed repair later.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We stop water from sitting at joints, edges, and low spots before freeze-up starts. A slab with sound drainage and solid support takes less damage from thaw cycles, which means fewer spring repairs and less money tied up in emergency fixes.
