Commercial Properties We Service in Grosse Pointe Farms

Different property types punish pavement in different ways, so we build each section around the load, traffic pattern, and access demands of the site.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where asphalt has to support ADA routes, keep stall lines readable, and hold up at entrances that see constant turning and braking.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where truck traffic, forklift lanes, and loading areas need a stronger section and tighter compaction to limit rutting and edge failure.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where drive lanes, guest parking, and fire access have to stay level enough for safe movement and drainage control.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where schools, public buildings, and service lots need pavement that supports steady use, clear circulation, and long-term maintenance planning in Macomb.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Grosse Pointe Farms Asphalt Paving Standards

Our Asphalt Paving lasts longer in Grosse Pointe Farms because we do the work that protects the structure before the surface ever gets finished. We shape drainage so water moves away from the lot instead of sitting in low spots, we rebuild weak sub-base areas so traffic does not keep pumping the same failure points, and we place mix that handles Michigan freeze-thaw cycles without opening up early cracks. That keeps property managers out of repeat patch work, edge breakup, and premature replacement costs.

  • Drainage first: Water is the fastest way to shorten pavement life. We correct runoff paths and low areas so moisture does not reach the base and start softening the section from below.
  • Base support: A lot can look fine on top and still fail under load. We address weak sub-grade and base conditions before paving so turning traffic and delivery trucks do not crush the same spots over and over.
  • Cold-weather mix: Michigan winters punish thin or poorly placed pavement. We use asphalt built for freeze-thaw movement, which helps reduce cracking, saves money on early repairs, and stretches the time between major capital expenses.

Common Asphalt Paving Projects We Handle in Grosse Pointe Farms

  • Retail lot resurfacing near the Village business district: Managers usually call after the top course has polished out, wheel paths have started to rut, and winter plow traffic keeps breaking the same edges. We mill the failed surface, inspect curb returns and cart paths for base movement, then place new asphalt at the right thickness so turning traffic stops chewing up the lot.
  • Truck court repair off Jefferson Avenue: Service yards in Grosse Pointe Farms take a different beating than customer parking areas. We cut out failed sections, correct soft subgrade where trailers have pumped the base apart, and rebuild the section so forklifts and delivery trucks are not riding over a patch that will settle again by spring.
  • ADA and access upgrades near Moross Road: Property managers often need ramp transitions, stall layouts, and walk routes brought back into line after years of patchwork repairs. We rework grades, tighten tie-ins at sidewalks and entrances, and finish the surface so water drains away from pedestrian paths instead of ponding where people step out of vehicles.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Grosse Pointe Farms Projects

Our Asphalt Paving work in Grosse Pointe Farms stays with our own W2 crews from layout to final compaction, using company-owned pavers, rollers, and support trucks so the people setting grade are the same people finishing the mat. We do not hand jobs to subcontractors, which keeps quality control tight, keeps the schedule in our hands, and gives local property managers one accountable crew for base prep, placement, and compaction.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Grosse Pointe Farms Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before any crew mobilizes, so the property manager is not left chasing forms or city steps. For Asphalt Paving in Grosse Pointe Farms, we pull the required Dumpster and ROW permits through the Building Department process, then coordinate MissDig before excavation starts. That keeps utility marks in place, reduces avoidable delays, and lets us manage the regulatory side while you stay focused on the lot and your tenants.

Frequently Asked Questions about Asphalt Paving in Grosse Pointe Farms

When is the best time to schedule paving?

Late spring through early fall gives us the best working window because the base has time to dry and compact properly. In Grosse Pointe Farms, that timing helps avoid cold-ground movement and cuts the odds of paying for rework later.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so access stays open where it needs to stay open. That usually means sectioning off lanes, setting clear traffic paths, and planning the sequence around peak delivery and customer hours.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We stop water from getting into cracks, joints, and weak edges before freeze-thaw can widen them. Good drainage, proper compaction, and early maintenance keep small issues from turning into base failure after a Macomb winter.
