Commercial Properties We Service in Harper Woods

Each commercial site has a different winter risk profile, so we plan around access, traffic load, and the way snowpack affects daily operations across Harper Woods.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, need open ADA routes, clear storefront access, and pile placement that does not cut into parking count or block driver sight lines.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, need dock lanes, fire access, and surface clearing that holds up under trucks, forklifts, and repeated salt exposure.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, need drive aisle control, mailbox access, and walkable paths that reduce slip risk for residents and service crews.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, need reliable access for staff, visitors, and emergency traffic, with snow management that keeps entrances and circulation points usable during freeze cycles.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Harper Woods Snow Removal Standards

Our Snow Removal lasts longer in Harper Woods because we do the work around the pavement, not just on top of it. We keep water moving away from curb lines and low spots so melt does not sit there, freeze again, and pry apart joints or edges. We also pay attention to the sub-base before winter stress shows up. If the foundation holds water or has settled sections, plowing only exposes the weak spots faster. For material choice, we use products that hold up through Michigan freeze-thaw cycles instead of breaking down after a few storms. That approach costs less over time because property managers avoid repeat patches, emergency repairs, and the kind of spring damage that starts with one bad winter.

  • Drainage first: We keep runoff moving so meltwater does not pool, refreeze, and damage asphalt or concrete at seams and curb edges.
  • Base support: We look for soft spots and settlement before winter traffic loads them harder, which helps prevent early surface failure and costly patch work.
  • Freeze-thaw fit: We use methods that hold up under Michigan temperature swings, so the site takes less damage and stays out of the repair cycle longer.

Common Snow Removal Projects We Handle in Harper Woods

  • Retail centers off Kelly Road usually need a first pass before opening and a return visit after the lunch rush. We clear the main drive aisle, open ADA ramps, and place snow where it does not steal parking or blind traffic at the corners. That keeps carts moving and gives managers a lot that still functions after the pack-down starts.
  • Industrial yards near I-94 need dock approach lanes kept open, not just the front row of stalls. We push back snow before it hardens against trailer paths, keep fire access clear, and manage pile height so meltwater does not run back into loading doors and freeze overnight.
  • Medical and office properties in Harper Woods need cleaner pedestrian control than most sites. We focus on entrances, curb cuts, and crosswalks first, then salt based on refreeze risk instead of throwing material everywhere. That reduces slip points for tenants and keeps walk paths usable without overloading the pavement.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snow Removal in Harper Woods

When should we schedule winter service?

Book before the first hard freeze so we can walk the site, mark push routes, and set pile areas while curb lines are still visible in Harper Woods. Early planning lowers the chance of rushed changes, extra visits, and avoidable downtime once snow starts stacking up.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We clear in phases so entrances, fire lanes, dock access, and ADA paths stay usable while work moves through the lot. That lets tenants, trucks, and customers keep moving without forcing a full shutdown for routine winter control.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We prevent damage by controlling where snow gets pushed, keeping meltwater off seams and low spots, and treating ice before traffic packs it into the pavement. That approach reduces curb breakage, joint stress, and the spring repair bill across Macomb sites.
