Commercial Properties We Service in Grosse Pointe Shores

Commercial sites in Grosse Pointe Shores need different winter priorities, so we match the route plan to how each property moves people, trucks, and equipment.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, need clear ADA paths, open storefront access, and controlled pile placement so shoppers can enter safely without losing stall count or blocking sight lines at drive aisles.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, depend on dock lanes, trailer movement, and heavy load capacity. We keep those surfaces open so freight does not stall and packed snow does not turn into a thaw problem at the doors.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, need walkways, mail areas, and resident parking kept usable. Good winter service reduces slip risk and keeps cars moving without burying curb lines or hydrants.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, need reliable access for staff, visitors, and emergency traffic. We treat fire lanes, entry points, and public walks as priority routes because downtime creates safety and liability issues fast.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Grosse Pointe Shores Snow Removal Standards

Our Snow Removal lasts longer in Grosse Pointe Shores because we do the work around the pavement system, not just across it. We keep water moving off the lot so it does not sit at curb lines, joints, or low spots and freeze back into a problem after traffic packs it down. We also look at what is underneath. If the sub-base shifts or holds water, winter stress shows up fast as heaving, edge breakage, and early surface failure. On sites that face repeated thaw cycles in Macomb County, we use methods that fit Michigan weather instead of fighting it. That saves property managers money because they avoid repeat cleanups, patch work, and repairs that start with poor winter control and end with damaged pavement.

  • Drainage first: We keep meltwater out of trouble areas so it does not refreeze against curbs, seams, and entrances. That reduces ice buildup and cuts down on spring repair calls.
  • Solid base: We pay attention to sub-base support before winter stress exposes weak spots. A stable base holds up better under plow traffic and helps prevent settlement that turns into costly fixes.
  • Freeze-thaw fit: We plan around Michigan freeze-thaw cycles with methods that match local conditions. That lowers surface damage, extends useful life, and keeps maintenance budgets from getting hit by early replacement work.

Common Snow Removal Projects We Handle in Grosse Pointe Shores

  • Retail centers along Mack and the side streets off Jefferson need early push service before opening, then a second pass after traffic packs the snow into the drive aisle. We clear storefront entries, keep ADA cuts open, and stage snow where it does not eat parking stalls or block sight lines at the corners. That keeps delivery trucks, customers, and carts moving without forcing a manager to close off part of the lot.
  • Service yards near the lakefront often deal with drifting, tight turning space, and dock doors that cannot be buried under windrowed snow. We cut clean lanes to the docks, keep trailer swing room open, and place piles where meltwater will not run back across the travel path and refreeze. In Grosse Pointe Shores, that matters because one bad pile can choke a yard for days after the storm ends.
  • Medical offices and multi tenant properties need more than a clean pavement pass. They need fire lanes, handicap routes, and patient access kept usable while ice control stays light enough to protect concrete joints and curb edges. We set those routes first, then work outward so emergency access stays clear and managers do not spend the morning dealing with complaints or slip hazards on Macomb service corridors.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Grosse Pointe Shores Projects

Our Snow Removal work in Grosse Pointe Shores stays with our own W2 crews from the first site walk to the last cleanup pass, using company-owned plows, loaders, and spreaders on every route. We do not hand commercial sites to subcontractors, which keeps the timing tight, the pile placement consistent, and the accountability direct for property managers who need one crew that knows the lot and stands behind the work.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Grosse Pointe Shores Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the permit work before the first storm so you do not have to manage it during a weather event. Our team works directly with the Grosse Pointe Shores Building Department, pulls the required Dumpster and right of way permits through the city process, and coordinates with MissDig before any excavation tied to snow storage or site prep. That keeps the paperwork, utility checks, and scheduling off the property manager’s desk, so we can stay focused on access, pile placement, and keeping the site usable.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snow Removal in Grosse Pointe Shores

When should we schedule winter service?

Book before the first hard freeze, while lots still show curb lines, drain inlets, and loading zones. That lets us build a route plan before snow hides the areas that drive cost and downtime in Grosse Pointe Shores.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We clear in phases so entrances, fire lanes, and dock access stay usable while we work the rest of the site. On larger properties, we stage snow where it does not block traffic or shrink parking count.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We focus on runoff first. If meltwater sits at seams, curb edges, or low spots, it freezes again and starts breaking pavement and concrete apart. We also avoid pushing snow against vulnerable edges where thaw water can soak back into the base.
