Commercial Properties We Service in Grosse Pointe

Commercial concrete has to match the way each property actually moves people, freight, and water. In Grosse Pointe, we build for the load, access, and code pressure tied to each site type.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where entry pads, curb returns, and ADA routes have to stay level so carts roll clean and trip edges do not form at the door.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, truck lanes, and equipment areas need slab support that holds up under repeated axle loads and turning stress.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where sidewalks, drives, and common-area slabs must control settlement, drainage, and joint movement without creating resident complaints or liability problems.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where public walkways, service pads, and access routes must stay stable under heavy use while meeting layout and compliance demands.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Grosse Pointe Concrete Contractor Standards

Our concrete lasts longer in Grosse Pointe because we do the work that protects the slab before the pour ever starts. We watch where water moves, rebuild weak support under the panel, and place concrete that can take Michigan freeze-thaw stress without opening up at the joints or edges. That keeps property managers from paying twice for the same area, first for a quick fix, then again when the base fails and the repair gets larger. Good drainage keeps water out of the structure. A solid sub-base spreads load instead of letting one soft spot sink. Proper mix selection and cure control help the slab hold up through winter traffic, salt exposure, and repeated thaw cycles.

  • Drainage first: We pitch surfaces so meltwater and rain leave the slab instead of sitting against it. Standing water leads to edge breakdown, joint failure, and early patch work.
  • Base support: We rebuild unstable sub-base material until it carries traffic evenly. That reduces settling, pumping, and the kind of movement that turns a small crack into a bigger replacement job.
  • Freeze-thaw readiness: We use concrete details suited to Michigan weather so cold cycles do not chew up the surface as fast. That slows deterioration and cuts down on repeat repairs for owners in Macomb.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in Grosse Pointe

  • Retail centers along Jefferson Avenue often need broken entry pads, settled curb returns, and sidewalk panels that catch cart traffic and winter plow blades. We cut back to sound concrete, rebuild the base where it has pumped out, reset the slope so meltwater moves off the walk, and lay joints to control future cracking before the next freeze cycle opens the same area again.
  • Industrial properties near Mack Avenue usually call for dock aprons and service slabs that have started to rock under trailers or show edge breakdown from repeated loading. We open the failed section, verify subgrade support, correct any drainage that is feeding water under the slab, then place new concrete with proper thickness and joint spacing for freight traffic instead of patching over a weak foundation.
  • ADA updates in Grosse Pointe often start with trip edges at entrances, misaligned walks, or ramps that no longer meet grade after settlement. We rework the affected panel layout, set elevations against the actual walking path, and finish the surface so access stays usable without creating a maintenance problem for the property manager later.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Grosse Pointe Projects

Our concrete work in Grosse Pointe stays in the hands of our own W2 crews from layout through final cleanup, with company-owned excavators, saws, and placement gear on site so the same team that sets the forms controls the base, pour, finish, and closeout. We do not pass slab replacement, curb repair, sidewalk panels, or dock aprons to subcontractors, which keeps the work tight to spec, keeps scheduling under one roof, and gives property managers one accountable crew from start to finish.

Trusted Concrete Reviews, Grosse Pointe

Property managers in Grosse Pointe have kept calling us back because we address the base, drainage, joints, and finish in the right order, not after the slab starts moving. Read the reviews below to see how that approach holds up on active commercial sites.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Grosse Pointe Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before any sawcut or excavation starts, so your team does not have to chase forms or sort out permit details. Our crew files what the Grosse Pointe Building Department requires, pulls the needed Dumpster and ROW permits through the city application process at https://www.grossepointecity.org/how_do_i_/apply_for_obtain/construction_applications/index.php, and coordinates Miss Dig at https://www.missdig811.org/ so utility marks are in place before we open the slab or subgrade. That keeps the job moving in order and takes the regulatory burden off the property manager.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in Grosse Pointe

When should we schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the best window because the base dries out faster and the slab cures under steadier temperatures. In Grosse Pointe, that usually means fewer delays, less cold protection, and less money spent fighting weather.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so access stays open where it needs to stay open. On active sites, we set clear barricades, keep walk paths and loading areas planned in advance, and pour in sections so your operation does not stop for one slab repair.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We stop water from getting under the concrete in the first place. That means correcting drainage, fixing settled joints or edges before freeze-up, and replacing broken panels before frost heave turns a small repair into a larger base problem.
