Commercial Properties We Service in Mount Clemens

We pave commercial properties in Mount Clemens to match how each site carries traffic, sheds water, and holds up under daily use. Different property types need different pavement details, and the base, thickness, and layout have to fit the load.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where clear stall striping, ADA ramps, and smooth driving lanes keep customer access safe and reduce trip points at entrances and walks.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where truck routes, loading areas, and turning paths need heavier section design so the pavement does not rut or break apart under repeated axle loads.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where drives, guest parking, and fire lanes need clean drainage and a stable surface that limits cracking around curb lines and utility cuts.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where schools, offices, and public lots need durable pavement that handles steady traffic while keeping access routes organized and compliant.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Mount Clemens Asphalt Paving Standards

Our Asphalt Paving lasts longer in Mount Clemens because we build for the failures that start below the surface. Water has to move off the lot, the base has to stay tight under load, and the mix has to handle freeze-thaw swings without opening up early cracks. That approach keeps property managers from paying twice, first for a cheap install and again for patching, milling, or full replacement after the pavement starts moving and breaking apart.

  • Drainage first. We shape runoff so water does not sit in low spots or work down through joints and edges. Once moisture reaches the structure, repairs get expensive fast.
  • Solid base. We correct weak sub-base areas before paving so the surface has real support under truck turns and daily traffic. A stable foundation cuts down on settlement, rutting, and callbacks.
  • Cold-cycle mix. We use asphalt built for Michigan freeze-thaw conditions, where expansion and contraction punish weak pavement. The right mix helps delay cracking and saves money by pushing major repairs farther out.

Common Asphalt Paving Projects We Handle in Mount Clemens

  • Retail resurfacing near Crocker Boulevard and Gratiot: Property managers usually call after the wheel paths start rutting, the corners break up from constant turning, or the lot looks tired even though the base still has life left. We mill the failed surface, check for soft spots at drive aisles and entrances, then place new asphalt at the right thickness so carts, delivery vans, and customer traffic do not tear it up again in one season.
  • Warehouse yard repair off North River Road: Heavy trucks expose weak subgrade fast. If the surface is cracking around loading areas or settling near dock approaches, we cut out the damaged sections, rebuild the base where it lost support, and repave to match the load path. That keeps forklifts, trailers, and service trucks moving without creating a patchwork of thin spots that fail under repeated stress.
  • ADA and access upgrades by Clinton River Road: Older commercial sites often need ramp corrections, smoother transitions at walks and curb returns, and better drainage at entries before they pass a practical inspection. We regrade problem areas, adjust slopes where needed, and tie new pavement into existing concrete or asphalt without creating trip edges. The goal is simple: safer access for tenants and fewer headaches for property management.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Mount Clemens Projects

Our Mount Clemens asphalt paving work stays in house from start to finish, with fully insured W2 crews running company-owned heavy equipment on every job. We do not hand the work to subcontractors, so we keep control of base prep, placement, and compaction, hold the schedule tighter for property managers, and leave one crew accountable for the result from the first pass to final cleanup.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Frequently Asked Questions about Asphalt Paving in Mount Clemens

When is the best time to schedule paving?

Late spring through early fall gives us the best working window because the base stays drier and compaction holds better. In Mount Clemens, that timing cuts down on weather delays and helps avoid paying twice for rework.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so trucks, customers, and employees can still get in and out. That usually means splitting the lot into sections, keeping one access lane open, and sequencing milling, paving, and striping around your busiest hours.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We stop water from getting into the pavement structure before freeze-thaw cycles can break it apart. That means fixing drainage problems early, sealing cracks before cold weather sets in, and rebuilding soft spots before they turn into larger failures.
