We stay active on commercial concrete work across Sterling Heights, helping property managers deal with slab repairs, curb failures, sidewalk breaks, and dock apron issues before they turn into bigger base problems. Explore the map and project pins below to see how our fieldwork holds up under traffic, drainage changes, and freeze-thaw movement.

Commercial Properties We Service in Sterling Heights

Our concrete work supports the parts of a site that take the most abuse. In Sterling Heights, we size each placement around traffic, drainage, and access so the slab does its job without creating maintenance problems later.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where sidewalks, curb ramps, and entry pads have to stay level for ADA access and resist cart traffic, snow storage, and repeated freeze-thaw movement.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, equipment pads, and truck lanes need a base that can handle heavy loads without settling or breaking at the joints.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where walkways, dumpster pads, and common-area slabs must control trip hazards, direct runoff, and hold up under steady resident traffic.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where public sidewalks, service areas, and access routes need proper slope, clean transitions, and concrete built for long service life under constant use.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Sterling Heights Concrete Contractor Standards

Our Concrete Contractor lasts longer in Sterling Heights because we start with the part most people never see, the ground under the slab. We shape drainage so water moves away from edges and joints, rebuild weak base material before it gets covered, and place concrete that can handle Michigan freeze-thaw cycles without breaking down early. That approach keeps small defects from turning into settled panels, spalled corners, and trip hazards. For property managers, that means fewer emergency fixes, less patchwork after winter, and a longer service life before replacement becomes the only real option.

  • Drainage first: We pitch the work so meltwater and storm runoff leave the slab fast. That keeps water out of joints and stops the base from softening.
  • Solid sub-base: We do not build on loose fill or pumped-out spots. A firm base carries traffic better and reduces settlement that leads to cracks and edge failure.
  • Freeze-thaw ready: We use placement methods suited for Michigan weather so the slab can take cold cycles without losing strength early. That saves money by pushing repairs farther out.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in Sterling Heights

  • Retail centers along Hall Road often call us after cart traffic, snow storage, and winter salts break down entry walks and curb returns. We remove the failed concrete, check the base for pumping or soft spots, then reset the slope and joint layout so water leaves the slab instead of sitting at the door line.
  • Industrial sites near Mound and 15 Mile need dock aprons, loading pads, and equipment areas that can take repeated truck movement without edge failure. We rebuild those sections by correcting subgrade support first, then placing concrete with the right thickness and control joints for the traffic pattern on site.
  • Property managers dealing with ADA updates usually need sidewalk panels, ramps, and transitions corrected before they become a liability issue. We rework trip points, bring slopes back into compliance, and tie new concrete into existing walks so access stays level for pedestrian use across Sterling Heights.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Sterling Heights Projects

Our Sterling Heights concrete work stays in house from layout through final cleanup, with fully insured W2 crews running company-owned heavy equipment on every job. We do not hand off slab replacement, curb work, sidewalk repairs, or dock aprons to subcontractors, which keeps form lines, base prep, placement, and finish control under one roof and gives property managers one crew to answer to when the schedule tightens or a field condition changes.

Trusted Concrete Reviews on Hall Road and Mound

For years, property managers in Sterling Heights have kept us on call because we handle concrete the same way every time: check the base, correct the drainage, and build for the load that actually crosses the slab. D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Sterling Heights Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before any concrete gets cut or poured. Our crew files what the Sterling Heights Building Department requires, pulls the needed Dumpster and ROW permits through the city application process, and coordinates MissDig 811 locates before excavation starts. That keeps utility marks in place, keeps the job legal, and takes the permit burden off your plate so you can focus on the property instead of chasing forms.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in Sterling Heights

When should we schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the best window because the slab can cure in steady temperatures and dry conditions. In Sterling Heights, that timing also helps keep labor down by reducing weather delays, tenting, and cold-weather protection.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so access stays open where it has to stay open, then isolate the pour area with clear barricades and a tight layout plan. That keeps traffic moving and limits the downtime that usually drives up cost on commercial sites in Macomb.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We stop water from getting under the slab by correcting slope, sealing problem joints, and rebuilding weak support before freeze-thaw cycles can lift the concrete. Once winter starts pushing on a bad base, repairs get bigger fast.
