We stay active on commercial concrete work across Richmond, serving property managers who need slabs, curbs, sidewalks, and aprons built for traffic and drainage, not just a clean first look. Explore the map and project pins below to see how we handle the field conditions that decide whether concrete holds up or starts moving early.

Commercial Properties We Service in Richmond

Commercial concrete has to match the load, traffic pattern, and access rules of each site. In Richmond, we size the work around how the property actually operates.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where sidewalks, curb ramps, and entry pads have to stay level enough for ADA access and resist cart traffic, snow stacks, and repeated freeze-thaw movement.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, equipment pads, and drive lanes need the thickness and base support to handle forklifts, trucks, and daily loading cycles without breaking down early.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where walks, stairs, dumpster pads, and common-area slabs must control trip hazards, shed water properly, and hold up under steady resident use.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where public access points, service areas, and pedestrian routes demand clean layout, joint control, and concrete that stays stable under heavy use and seasonal movement in Macomb.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Richmond Concrete Contractor Standards

Our Concrete Contractor holds up longer in Richmond because we do the work below the surface before we ever think about finish. We look at where water will sit, how the slab drains after a storm, and whether the base can carry trucks, carts, and daily traffic without shifting. That matters to property managers because concrete usually fails at the edges, joints, and low spots first. Fix those parts early and you avoid patchwork repairs, trip hazards, and full-depth replacement that should have been prevented years earlier.

  • Drainage first: We pitch concrete so runoff moves away from the slab instead of soaking into weak points and opening cracks.
  • Sub-base support: We prepare a firm base that spreads load evenly, which cuts down on settling and the repairs that follow it.
  • Freeze-thaw mix: We use placement methods suited to Michigan freeze-thaw cycles so joints stay tighter and surface breakdown starts later.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in Richmond

  • Retail centers along Gratiot and 32 Mile usually call us after cart traffic, plow blades, and winter salt chew up entry walks or curb returns. We remove the failed sections, check for soft base material, then rebuild the support and pitch so water leaves the slab instead of sitting at the door line.
  • Industrial properties near the rail corridor often need dock aprons, equipment pads, and truck aprons patched before the damage spreads into a larger replacement. We cut back the broken concrete to sound edges, correct settlement where it started, and place new work with joint spacing that fits heavy axle loads and turning stress.
  • Property managers in Richmond also ask for ADA updates when older sidewalks, ramps, or thresholds no longer meet access needs. We rework slope, landing size, and transitions so wheelchairs, carts, and foot traffic move cleanly across the site without creating trip points or drainage problems.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Richmond Projects

Our Richmond concrete work stays in house from layout to final finish, with fully insured W2 crews running company-owned heavy equipment on every job. We do not hand off slab replacement, curb work, sidewalk repairs, or dock aprons to subcontractors, which keeps the same people responsible for form line, base prep, placement, and cleanup, and gives property managers one schedule to follow and one crew to answer for the work.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Richmond Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before any concrete gets cut out or poured, so you do not have to chase forms or guess at the next step. Our crew files what the Richmond Building Department requires, pulls Dumpster and right of way permits when the job calls for them, and coordinates Miss Dig 811 locates before excavation starts. That keeps utility marks in place, keeps the site legal, and takes the regulatory burden off your desk while we handle the work.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in Richmond

When is the best time to schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the best curing window, especially on commercial slabs that need steady temperatures and dry subgrade. In Richmond, we plan around rain, overnight lows, and traffic patterns so the pour does not get rushed or reworked.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so one access point stays open while another section is removed or placed. That means clear staging, short shutdown windows, and a layout that keeps customers, tenants, and deliveries moving without forcing a full closure.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We control drainage first, because water in the slab edge and base turns into frost heave later. Proper joints, sound support, and timely repairs before freeze season keep small cracks from becoming expensive spring failures in Macomb.
