Snow Removal in Madison Heights, MI

D&J Contracting is Madison Heights’s local choice for commercial Snow Removal. We bring 38 years in Southeast Michigan and plan each site around plow paths, stacking space, and ice control that protects pavement and keeps access open.

Our crews work with the lot layout, not against it. That means cleaner curb lines, fewer refreeze problems near drains, and better control over winter wear across Macomb.

Recent Snow Removal Projects in Madison Heights

We stay on commercial sites across Madison Heights all winter, keeping drive lanes, loading areas, and customer access open as storms change the surface hour by hour. Use the map and project pins below to review recent work and see how we handle real site conditions in the field.

Commercial Properties We Service in Madison Heights

We service commercial sites in Madison Heights by matching plow patterns, stacking areas, and ice control to how each property actually functions through a storm cycle.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, need clear ADA routes, open storefront access, and pile placement that does not cut into parking count or block sight lines at the drive aisles.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, depend on dock access, truck turning room, and surface control that can handle repeated axle loads without leaving frozen ridges at the entrances.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, need walkable paths, mail access, and careful snow storage so residents can move safely without blocking curb drainage or emergency access.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, require fire lane clearance, public entry control, and steady response around high-use areas where slip risk and liability rise fast after each snowfall.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Madison Heights Snow Removal Standards

Our Snow Removal lasts longer in Madison Heights because we treat the lot like a water management problem before it turns into a winter problem. We clear snow with drainage in mind, keep meltwater moving away from curb lines and low spots, and avoid leaving piles where they feed refreeze on the next cold snap. We also pay attention to the base under the pavement, since weak support shows up fast once plows start working and traffic keeps packing the surface. The right approach costs less over time because it cuts down on early patching, edge breakup, and spring cleanup that property managers should not have to budget for twice.

  • Drainage first: We keep runoff moving so water does not sit, freeze, and break down joints, edges, or asphalt at the curb line.
  • Base support: We watch for soft spots and settled areas before winter traffic exposes them, which helps avoid repairs that start with one bad thaw cycle.
  • Freeze-thaw fit: We use methods that hold up through Michigan temperature swings, so the site takes less damage and needs fewer corrective calls later.

Common Snow Removal Projects We Handle in Madison Heights

  • Retail centers along 12 Mile and Dequindre usually need a first pass before opening, then a return pass after traffic packs the lot. We clear the main drive aisle, open ADA ramps, and place snow where it does not steal stall count or block sight lines at the corners. That keeps carts moving and keeps refreeze from locking up the front row.
  • Industrial yards near John R often need dock lanes kept open while trailers are still cycling in and out. We start with the approach lanes, clean out turning pockets, and push snow to stack areas that do not interfere with forklift paths or trailer swing room. That reduces backup at the doors and keeps freight moving without forcing drivers to work around drifted piles.
  • Medical offices and service plazas on 11 Mile need clean walks, curb cuts, and marked access points before staff arrivals. We focus on those narrow travel lines first, then treat the adjacent pavement so meltwater does not run back across the sidewalk and freeze again by midmorning. In Madison Heights, that kind of timing matters because one missed refreeze can turn a usable entrance into a slip point fast.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Madison Heights Projects

Our Madison Heights winter routes stay in house from the first site walk to the last cleanup pass, run by fully insured W2 crews using company-owned plows, loaders, and spreaders. We do not hand commercial work to subcontractors, which keeps the timing tight, the standard consistent, and the accountability direct for property managers who need one crew to answer for access, pile placement, and follow-up after a storm.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Madison Heights Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before the first storm so your team does not lose time chasing city forms. In Madison Heights, we work directly with the Building Department, pull the required Dumpster and right of way permits, and check MissDig before any excavation tied to snow storage or site prep. That keeps the regulatory burden off the property manager and lets us handle the details that can slow a winter plan down if they get missed.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snow Removal in Madison Heights

When should we schedule winter service?

Book before the first hard freeze, while routes, curb lines, and stacking areas are still easy to mark. That gives us time to plan the site properly in Madison Heights and avoids rushed changes after snow starts building up.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We clear in phases so drive aisles, entrances, dock doors, and ADA access stay usable while we work. The goal is to keep traffic moving and avoid shutting down a section of the property just to move snow around.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We control where snow gets pushed, keep piles away from drains and weak edges, and treat ice before it turns into refreeze at curb lines. That reduces thaw damage, protects pavement joints, and keeps small winter problems from turning into spring repairs.
