Built for Michigan Weather: Our Harrison Township Snow Removal Standards

Our Snow Removal holds up longer in Harrison Township because we treat the lot like a drainage system first and a plowing surface second. We keep meltwater moving, protect the sub-base from saturation, and use materials that stand up to repeated freeze-thaw swings. That matters on sites near Jefferson Avenue, Metro Parkway, and the lakefront corridors where water has nowhere to hide. When those details get handled early, property managers avoid the spring patchwork that shows up after base failure, edge breakup, and refreeze damage.

  • Drainage first: We keep curb lines, inlets, and low spots open so meltwater does not sit on the pavement and work into cracks. That cuts down on heaving, ice buildup, and the repair bills that follow a wet winter.
  • Base protection: We watch for soft spots and weak support before they turn into rutting or broken edges under truck traffic. A stable sub-base reduces emergency repairs and keeps the site serviceable longer.
  • Freeze-thaw fit: We use winter control methods that match Michigan weather instead of fighting it with heavy salt use or sloppy stacking. That helps limit surface damage and slows the cycle that forces early resurfacing.

Common Snow Removal Projects We Handle in Harrison Township

  • Retail centers along Jefferson Avenue often need a first pass before opening, then a return visit after traffic packs the snow into the drive aisle. We clear entrances, ADA cuts, and cart routes first, then place piles where they do not cut stall count or block sight lines at the corners. That keeps turnover moving and keeps meltwater from freezing back across the walk paths.
  • Industrial yards near the I-94 corridor need dock lanes opened without burying trailer backs or loading pads. We push snow to storage areas that hold up through thaw cycles, then keep an eye on refreeze at curb returns and low spots so forklifts and delivery trucks do not hit hidden ice when the temperature drops again. In Harrison Township, that kind of control matters more than just moving snow out of the way.
  • Medical and office properties around Metro Parkway usually ask for clean pedestrian access, fire lane clearance, and a route that does not trap water at entries. We stage work so primary doors stay usable, keep salted walk lines wide enough for foot traffic, and avoid piling against curbs where runoff can sheet back onto the pavement. That reduces slip points and keeps managers from chasing problems after each storm.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Harrison Township Projects

Our Harrison Township snow work stays in house from the first site walk to the last cleanup pass, with fully insured W2 crews running company-owned plows, loaders, and spreaders on every route. We do not hand commercial properties to subcontractors, which lets us control blade speed, pile placement, and return timing while giving property managers one accountable crew that knows the lot and answers for the result.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Harrison Township Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before the first storm so your manager does not have to chase forms during bad weather. Our team works directly with the Harrison Township Building Department, pulls the required Dumpster and right of way permits through the city process, and checks MissDig before any excavation tied to snow storage or site prep. That keeps the regulatory burden off your desk and lets us focus on access, drainage, and keeping the property workable through the season.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snow Removal in Harrison Township

When should we schedule winter service?

Book before the first hard freeze. That gives us time to walk the property, mark push routes, and set stacking areas while curb lines and drain points are still visible in Harrison Township.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We clear in phases so entrances, fire lanes, and dock access stay usable while work is moving. On active sites, that keeps customers, trucks, and staff flowing without forcing a shutdown for routine snow operations.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We keep snow out of low spots, protect curb edges, and avoid piling material where meltwater will refreeze against the pavement. That reduces wheel path rutting, edge breakup, and the kind of thaw damage that shows up later in Macomb.
