Concrete Contractor in Grosse Pointe Park, MI

D&J Contracting handles commercial concrete work in Grosse Pointe Park with the same field discipline we bring across Southeast Michigan. We focus on subgrade prep, joint layout, and curing because those details decide whether a slab stays serviceable or starts moving under load.

With 38 years in Macomb and the surrounding market, we plan concrete around traffic, drainage, and long-term maintenance, not just the pour date. That is how we protect the asset from early cracking and settlement.

Commercial Properties We Service in Grosse Pointe Park

Commercial concrete has to match the load, access, and maintenance demands of each site. In Grosse Pointe Park and Macomb, we build for how the property actually works day after day.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where entry walks, curb returns, and ADA routes have to stay level so foot traffic moves safely and trip edges do not form at storefronts.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, drive lanes, and equipment pads need the thickness and support to handle repeated truck loading without settlement.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where sidewalks, common area slabs, and curb transitions must stay serviceable for residents while keeping drainage away from buildings and walk paths.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where public access, code compliance, and long-term durability matter because failure affects safety, liability, and daily operations.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Grosse Pointe Park Concrete Contractor Standards

Our concrete lasts longer in Grosse Pointe Park because we fix the conditions that make slabs fail early. We start with drainage, so water moves away from the panel instead of sitting at the edge and working down into the base. We rebuild the sub-base so the slab has even support under traffic, not soft spots that pump out after one winter. Then we place concrete built for Michigan freeze-thaw cycles, which helps limit edge breakup, joint damage, and the kind of cracking that turns into early patch work. That saves property managers money because they avoid repeat repairs, emergency fixes, and full replacement years before the slab should be worn out.

  • Drainage first: We shape runoff so meltwater and rain do not collect beside the slab or soak the base. That cuts down on washout, settlement, and the repair bills that follow.
  • Solid support: We prepare a firm sub-base before any pour goes in. A stable foundation spreads load correctly and keeps panels from rocking, sinking, or breaking apart under daily use.
  • Cold-weather mix: We use placement methods suited to Michigan freeze-thaw stress. That reduces surface scaling and joint failure, which means fewer call-backs and less money spent fixing the same area twice.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in Grosse Pointe Park

  • Retail centers along Kercheval often call for broken entry walks, settled curb returns, and apron edges that hold water after snowmelt. We sawcut back to sound concrete, rebuild the base where it has washed out, reset the slope so runoff leaves the storefront, and lay joints to keep the next crack where we want it instead of through the middle of a traffic path.
  • Light industrial yards near Mack Avenue usually need dock aprons, equipment pads, and loading areas patched before forklift traffic turns a small failure into a bigger one. We remove loose sections, correct the subgrade that pumped under repeated wheel loads, and place replacement concrete with enough support and joint control to handle daily use without breaking up at the edges.
  • ADA updates around West Village and nearby commercial corridors usually start with trip hazards at sidewalks, ramps, and curb transitions. We regrade the panel line, replace heaved sections, and set clean slopes that move people safely while keeping drainage away from door thresholds and planter beds.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Grosse Pointe Park Projects

Our concrete work in Grosse Pointe Park stays in the hands of our own W2 crews from layout through final cleanup, with company-owned excavators, saws, and placement gear on site every day. We do not hand slab replacement, curb repair, sidewalk panels, or dock aprons to subcontractors, which keeps the finish under one standard, keeps scheduling tight for property managers, and leaves accountability with the same team that set the forms and poured the slab.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Grosse Pointe Park Permits & Codes Handled For You

We take the permit work off your plate before excavation starts. Our crew handles the paperwork with the Grosse Pointe Park Building Department, pulls the required Dumpster and ROW permits through the city application process at https://www.grossepointepark.org/250/Permits-Applications, and coordinates Miss Dig at https://www.missdig811.org/ so utility marks are in place before we open a sawcut or break ground. That keeps the job moving and keeps your team out of the back and forth that usually slows a concrete project down.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in Grosse Pointe Park

When should we schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the best curing window and fewer weather delays. In Grosse Pointe Park, that usually means lower setup risk and less money spent on cold protection or wet subgrade cleanup.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so access stays open where it matters, then set clear limits for each pour area. That keeps traffic moving while we replace only the sections that need to be rebuilt.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We start with drainage and support under the slab, because water is what turns freeze-thaw into breakage. If the base stays firm and runoff leaves the panel fast, winter has less chance to lift edges, split joints, or open cracks in Macomb sites.
