Snow Removal in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI

D&J Contracting is Grosse Pointe Farms’s local choice for commercial Snow Removal. We bring 38 years in Southeast Michigan and plan each property around plow travel, stacking room, and ice control that protects pavement and curb lines.

Our crews work the lot with winter drainage in mind, so meltwater has a path instead of pooling at entrances or catch basins. That matters on Macomb sites where one bad push can create spring cleanup and surface damage.

We stay on commercial sites across Grosse Pointe Farms all winter, clearing access lanes, loading areas, and customer routes as storm conditions change from hour to hour. Use the map and project pins below to review recent work and see how we handle real site conditions in the field.

Commercial Properties We Service in Grosse Pointe Farms

Each site type needs a different winter plan. In Grosse Pointe Farms, we set routes, pile space, and ice control around how the property moves people, vehicles, and deliveries.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, need clear ADA routes, open storefront access, and snow placed where it does not cut parking count or block sight lines at drive aisles.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, depend on dock access, trailer turning room, and surface support that holds up under heavy equipment and constant traffic.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, need safe resident travel lanes, mailbox access, and plowing that keeps curb lines open without burying walks or fire lanes.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, need reliable access for staff, visitors, emergency vehicles, and service traffic so the site stays usable through changing storm conditions.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Grosse Pointe Farms Snow Removal Standards

Our Snow Removal lasts longer in Grosse Pointe Farms because we treat winter access as a drainage and support problem, not just a plow pass. If meltwater has nowhere to go, it sits at the curb, soaks joints, and freezes again after traffic packs it down. That cycle breaks pavement early. We plan around runoff first, keep snow out of low points, and work with the site instead of against it. On properties that see repeated freeze and thaw, that approach saves managers from patching edges, repairing curb lines, and dealing with settlement that should have been prevented before the first storm.

  • Drainage first: We keep water moving off drives, entrances, and loading areas so it does not refreeze in place and damage pavement edges or concrete joints.
  • Sub-base support: We watch for soft spots and weak support under the surface. If the base moves under traffic, winter damage shows up fast and repair costs climb.
  • Freeze-thaw fit: We use winter methods that match Michigan conditions around Macomb, which helps reduce surface breakup, premature cracking, and repeat maintenance calls.

Common Snow Removal Projects We Handle in Grosse Pointe Farms

  • Retail centers along Mack and Kercheval need the main drive lanes open before first traffic, then a follow-up pass after the morning rush packs snow into the wheel paths. We clear entrances first, keep ADA cuts and cart corral routes open, and place snow where it does not choke stall count or block sight lines at exits.
  • Industrial yards near Moross and Jefferson need dock doors, trailer turn space, and employee parking kept usable after each push. We work the apron in stages, open the freight path first, then clean the stacking areas so trucks can back in without dragging slush into the dock line or freezing it across the slab.
  • Medical and office properties on Vernier and around The Hill need clean walks, curb ramps, and patient access that stay workable through freeze-thaw cycles. We clear pedestrian routes down to pavement, treat refreeze points at crosswalks and curb returns, and keep pile placement away from drainage inlets so meltwater does not run back across the entry.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Grosse Pointe Farms Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before the first storm so your team does not get pulled into permit details. In Grosse Pointe Farms, we work directly with the Building Department, pull the required Dumpster and right of way permits through the city process, and coordinate with MissDig before any excavation tied to snow storage or site prep. That keeps the regulatory side off the property manager’s desk and lets us keep the site ready for winter access without delays.

Frequently Asked Questions about Snow Removal in Grosse Pointe Farms

When should we schedule winter service?

Book before the first hard freeze. That gives us time to walk the site, mark pile areas, and set routes before snow hides curb lines and loading zones in Grosse Pointe Farms.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We clear in phases. Main drives, entrances, fire lanes, and dock access stay open first, then we come back for cleanup after traffic dies down so your customers and trucks can keep moving.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We control where snow goes and how meltwater drains. That keeps ice from building at curb edges, joints, and low spots, which cuts down on pavement stress and spring repair costs across Macomb.
