Recent Concrete Contractor Projects in Utica

We stay active on commercial concrete work across Utica, handling slab replacements, curb repairs, sidewalk failures, and dock aprons for properties that need solid support under traffic and clean drainage at the edge. Explore the map and project pins below to see where we have worked and how our field methods hold up on real jobs.

Commercial Properties We Service in Utica

Commercial concrete has to match how a property moves people, freight, and water. We build for that use case first in Utica.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where sidewalks, curb ramps, and entry pads have to stay level for ADA access and hold up to carts, snow storage, and constant foot traffic.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, loading areas, and equipment pads need the base support and thickness to handle truck loads without early settlement.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where walkways, curb returns, and common-area slabs must control trip hazards, drainage issues, and repair cycles that affect residents every day.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where classrooms, offices, entries, and service areas need concrete that stays stable under public use, maintenance traffic, and freeze-thaw movement.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our Utica Concrete Contractor Standards

Our Concrete Contractor lasts longer in Utica because we treat the slab as a system, not a surface. We grade water away from the edge, rebuild weak support under the pour, and place concrete that can take Michigan freeze-thaw movement without opening up early. That keeps joints tighter, reduces edge spalling, and cuts down on the kind of repairs property managers end up paying for twice.

  • Drainage control keeps runoff from sitting at the slab edge or working into joints. Once water gets underneath, the base softens and the concrete starts moving. Fixing that later costs more than getting the slope right at the start.
  • Sub-base preparation matters because concrete only performs as well as what holds it up. We remove unstable material, rebuild support where needed, and compact it so docks, walks, and curb sections do not settle under traffic.
  • Freeze-thaw mix selection helps the slab hold together through winter cycles common across Macomb County. The right placement and finish reduce early cracking and surface breakdown, which means fewer patch jobs and less disruption for your property team.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in Utica

  • Retail centers near Van Dyke and Hall Road usually call us for broken walks, settled curb returns, and entry pads that trap water after snowmelt. We remove the failed section, verify the base, rebuild any soft spots, then reset slope and joint layout so carts, foot traffic, and runoff move off the slab instead of back into the building line.
  • Industrial properties around Mound and Auburn run heavier loads than most managers expect. Forklifts, box trucks, and dock traffic will expose thin sections fast. We cut out spalled apron edges, replace weak support under the slab, and place new concrete with the thickness and reinforcement needed to hold up under repeated wheel loads without early corner breakage.
  • ADA update work in Utica often starts after a site audit shows trip edges at ramps, uneven sidewalk panels, or curb transitions that no longer meet access needs. We rework the grade, correct cross-slope where needed, and form new transitions that keep pedestrian flow level while still moving water away from entries and along the parking field.

In-House Crews & Equipment for Utica Projects

Our Utica concrete work stays in house from layout to cleanup, with fully insured W2 crews running company-owned heavy equipment on every job. We do not hand off slab replacement, curb repair, sidewalk work, or dock aprons to subcontractors, so the person managing the property gets one crew, one schedule, and one point of accountability when the base needs to be right and the finish has to hold up under traffic.

Trusted Concrete Reviews on Van Dyke and Hall Road

Property managers in Utica keep calling us back because we handle concrete the same way every time, with base support, drainage, joint layout, and cleanup done in a fixed order that protects the slab from early failure. D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

Our 3-Step Concrete Contractor Process for Utica

  1. On-Site Evaluation We inspect the slab, base, drainage, and traffic path first, then give a free estimate that reflects the actual field conditions in Utica.
  2. Permitting and Logistics We handle permits, Miss Dig locates, staging, and access planning so the work stays organized and your property team does not lose time to avoidable delays.
  3. Execution and Cleanup We remove failed concrete, rebuild support where needed, place and finish the new work, then leave the site clean and ready for normal use.

Utica Permits & Codes Handled For You

We take the paperwork off your plate before any concrete gets cut or poured. Our crew handles the Utica Building Department filings, pulls the required Dumpster and ROW permits, and coordinates MissDig 811 locates before excavation starts. That keeps utilities marked, keeps the job in compliance, and lets property managers stay focused on the site instead of chasing forms or fielding permit delays.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in Utica

When should we schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the best curing window, and that matters on commercial slabs that need strength before traffic returns. In Utica, we also watch overnight lows and rain patterns so the pour does not turn into extra protection work or a slower handoff to operations.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work around access points, loading areas, and pedestrian routes so your team can keep moving. That means planning saw cuts, demo, and placement in sections instead of shutting down more pavement than the job actually needs.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We start with drainage and joint control, because standing water and open seams are what let freeze-thaw cycles do the damage. If a slab already shows heave or edge breakup near Hall Road or M-59, we correct the base and runoff before the next cold season makes it worse.
