We stay active on commercial concrete work across St Clair Shores, supporting property managers who need slabs, curbs, sidewalks, and dock aprons built to handle traffic, drainage, and freeze-thaw movement. Explore the map and project pins below to see how our field experience shows up on real jobs in Macomb.

Commercial Properties We Service in St Clair Shores

We build commercial concrete around how each property carries load, moves people, and handles water in St Clair Shores. The right slab detail protects access points, keeps joints from breaking down early, and limits costly follow-up work.

  • Retail Centers & Plazas, where sidewalks, curb ramps, and entry pads must stay level for ADA access and hold up to carts, snow storage, and constant foot traffic.
  • Industrial Parks & Warehouses, where dock aprons, equipment pads, and truck aisles need concrete that can take repeated loading without settling at the edges.
  • HOAs & Multi-Family Complexes, where walks, stair landings, curbs, and drives have to control trip hazards while keeping drainage away from buildings and common areas.
  • Municipal & Institutional Facilities, where schools, civic sites, and public buildings need durable flatwork that supports safe circulation and stands up to heavy use through Macomb winters.

Built for Michigan Weather: Our St Clair Shores Concrete Contractor Standards

Our concrete work lasts longer in St Clair Shores because we treat drainage, base support, and mix selection as one system. If water sits at the edge or works into a joint, the slab starts moving before most property managers see a visible problem. We correct that early by shaping runoff away from the pour, building a firm sub-base that does not pump under traffic, and placing concrete that can handle Michigan freeze-thaw cycles without breaking down fast. That approach costs less over time because it cuts down on patching, settles fewer complaints from tenants and customers, and keeps small defects from turning into full removal jobs.

  • Drainage first: We pitch the slab so water leaves the surface instead of collecting at doors, corners, and joints. That reduces edge spalling and keeps repair calls from stacking up after every storm.
  • Base support: We prepare the sub-base so the concrete has even bearing across the whole section, not soft spots that settle under carts or trucks. A stable foundation helps property managers avoid early cracking and repeat patch work.
  • Freeze-thaw mix: We place concrete suited for Michigan weather so repeated freezing and thawing do not chew up the surface as fast. That extends service life and lowers long-term maintenance costs for Macomb properties.

Common Concrete Contractor Projects We Handle in St Clair Shores

  • Retail centers along Harper and 9 Mile often need entry walks, curb returns, and small loading pads replaced after plow damage and settled base material. We remove the failed section, verify support under the slab, rebuild the subgrade where it has pumped out, and reset slope so water leaves the walking path instead of sitting at the door line.
  • Industrial properties near the Nautical Mile corridor usually call for dock aprons, equipment pads, and truck lanes that have cracked from heavy axle loads. We cut back to sound concrete or full-depth repair zones, correct any drainage issue that is driving the failure, then place new work with joint placement and thickness matched to how the site actually gets used.
  • Property managers handling ADA updates around Mack Avenue and Little Mack often need sidewalk lifts, ramp corrections, and trip hazard removal before a tenant issue turns into a liability problem. We rework the grades, form compliant transitions, and tie new concrete into existing walks without creating hard edges that catch carts, strollers, or foot traffic.

In-House Crews & Equipment for St Clair Shores Projects

Our St Clair Shores concrete work stays in house from layout to final cleanup, with fully insured W2 crews running company-owned heavy equipment on every job. We do not pass slab replacement, curb work, sidewalk repairs, or dock aprons to subcontractors, which keeps quality control tight, schedules predictable, and accountability squarely on our crew when a property manager needs answers.

D&J did a great job on our facility parking lot when we were in need of some asphalt catch basin repairs. They were professional, accommodating to our traffic needs, quick and thorough with the repairs, and back promptly after a week to retrieve their barriers. Their quote process was easy, and their pricing was incredibly reasonable for the work done. We are very pleased with D&J and recommend them highly.

D&J Contracting is a fantastic vendor. I manage a very large portfolio of retail stores and they are in my top 1% of all vendors. I give them my MOST enthusiastic recommendation. They care, they provide the best quality and customer service out there. Always go above and beyond and even take on special projects that are outside their main scope of work when I'm in a pinch. No job is too big or too small for them!

Nothings but professionalism, everything done as requested and on time.
My project involved multiple services and pulling permits and I had several quotes and most companies don’t offer multiple services or don’t pull permits and you have to do it yourself.
D & J is the only company who takes care of city permits and takes care of all the services you need from start to finish. They also update you on everything, keep you in a loop and confirms everything with you.
In our specific case we needed a curb cut, driveway leveled and parking lot sealed and coated so low sports vehicles can safely pull in without scraping the bottom and D & J did it so well you can pull in even on skateboard now.
Highly recommend D & J, top quality, smooth process.

D&J was one of several companies I contacted for a quote to pave my 100’ driveway in May/June of 2021. They delivered a competitive quote, and I was further impressed by their professionalism and quick correspondence. After I hired D&J for the job, they came out to my residence within two weeks and paved my driveway in a single day. The driveway looks fantastic! The crew who paved it was friendly and quick-working, and the driveway is perfectly flat and slopes toward the road so there is no significant puddling (the attached photo is moments after a hard rain). It has been about four months since installation, and the driveway still looks impeccable. I was also contacted by D&J after the work was completed to ensure I was completely satisfied. I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with several subpar contractors in the construction industry in the recent past—but D&J is an exception to the rule. They were competitive, responsive, professional, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. I was left very impressed. I have some future site work planned for my property, and I will absolutely be contacting D&J again.

St Clair Shores Permits & Codes Handled For You

We handle the paperwork before any concrete is removed or poured, so your team does not have to chase forms or guess at the sequence. Our crew works with the St Clair Shores Building Department, pulls the required Dumpster and ROW permits through the city application process, and coordinates Miss Dig 811 locates before excavation starts. That keeps utilities marked, keeps the job legal, and takes a real burden off the property manager while we focus on the slab work.

Frequently Asked Questions about Concrete Contractor in St Clair Shores

When is the best time of year to schedule concrete work?

Spring through early fall gives us the cleanest curing window, especially for commercial slabs that need steady temperatures and dry subgrade. In St Clair Shores, we also watch overnight lows and rain patterns so the pour does not turn into extra labor or a cold-weather patch job.

How do you keep our business open during the project?

We phase the work so access stays open where it matters, then set forms, barricades, and walk paths around active doors and truck lanes. That keeps tenants moving and cuts down on lost time for your staff.

How do you prevent winter weather damage?

We start with drainage and joint control, because water sitting at the slab edge is what drives freeze-thaw damage. On Macomb sites, we also rebuild weak base areas before they turn into heaving, cracking, or settled corners in spring.
