The Gravel Driveway Process Explained
The process of building gravel driveways offers room for customization to fit your specific needs. This can range from an edged gravel driveway that incorporates unique contours and shapes, to a modern gravel driveway lined with pavers. In general, the process begins with the removal of topsoil and the installation of a sturdy base layer to prevent sinking. After that, the layers of gravel—such as driveway gravel grey or pea gravel driveway—are added. Contractors like D&J Contracting usually recommend multiple layers for best results. Subsequently, driveway gravel leveling is essential to ensure an even and smooth surface. Finally, a roller is used to compact the driveway for a more solid feel underfoot.
Benefits of a Gravel Driveway
One of the major benefits of gravel driveways is their affordability. The gravel driveway cost is often less than concrete or asphalt options, making them an attractive choice for budget-conscious businesses. Additionally, the average cost of gravel driveway includes not just the materials but also the added costs of installation and grading. Choosing entities like D&J Contracting that offer quality gravel driveway services at a reasonable price is crucial in ensuring your investment lasts longer.
Other benefits include their versatile aesthetic appeal, ability to handle heavy vehicles without cracking or becoming damaged, and their permeability, which allows water to drain naturally.
