French Drain Installation Guide for Commercial Properties in Clinton Township

An effective drainage system is crucial for the functionality and longevity of any commercial property. In Clinton Township, businesses have adopted a proactive approach towards their infrastructural stability by integrating advanced water-draining solutions, such as French Drains. Renowned for their reliability and efficiency, these drainage systems have become a staple in commercial operations, safeguarding properties from potential water damage.

Understanding the French Drain Installation Process

The efficacy of a french drain system installation lies fundamentally in its design and installation process. It commences with a comprehensive assessment of the terrain, identifying the highest and lowest points of the landscape. This identification helps in mapping a path for the French Drain, directing water away from the property effectively.

Following the site assessment, a trench is excavated along the decided route. The trench’s depth and width may vary depending on the property’s specific needs, but generally, it is about 1.5 feet wide and 2 feet deep.

The trench is then filled with a layer of washed drainage gravel, over which a perforated pipe is laid. The pipe is surrounded by more gravel, creating a porous medium for the water to seep through and follow the pipe’s path. This simple, yet effective mechanism is what makes french drains a favored drainage solution for commercial properties in Clinton Township.

Advanced and professional services like those offered by D&J Contracting have benchmarked french drain installation in terms of efficiency and reliability. They have refined the installation process over years of service, ensuring high-quality and long-term results.

The Economics of French Drain Installation

When it comes to commercial decision-making, french drain installation cost is an essential factor. While the cost can vary based on the project’s complexity, property size, and materials used, it is generally seen as a cost-effective long-term investment. It is essential to evaluate the potential savings from reduced property damage against the initial installation cost.

Comparative components like sump pump and french drain installation cost, when evaluated objectively, demonstrate that the latter offers substantial benefits with minor cost differences. Additionally, the inclusion of components like downspout French drain installation enhances the overall efficiency of the system, justifying the expenditure.

It’s noteworthy to mention that professional french drain installation companies like D&J Contracting provide transparent and competitive pricing, adhering to the best industry practices.

Real-World Applications and Benefits

French Drain has proven its worth in numerous real-world applications. Commercial properties facing water-logging issues, basement leakage, and mold growth have significantly benefited from a well-installed french drain system.

Specifically, installation around the house, as well as downspout french drain installation, effectively addresses rainwater runoff, mitigating water damage risks. Commercial properties situated on a sloping terrain or low-lying areas in Clinton Township find these installations immensely beneficial.

The reservation of professional contractors for French drain installation ensures reliable service and long-term property protection. The value added by a company like D&J Contracting is incomparable in terms of quality, assurance, and post-installation service.

About Clinton Township, Michigan

The first settlement on the land that is now Clinton Township was called Gnadenhuetten and was established in 1782 by Rev. David Zeisberger, but closed in 1786. It was organized as “Huron Township” on August 12, 1818, named after what was then known as the Huron River. Because of confusion with another Huron River south of Detroit, on July 17, 1824, the Michigan Territorial Legislature renamed both the township and the river after DeWitt Clinton, the popular governor of New York from 1817 to 1823 who was largely responsible for building the Erie Canal which enabled many settlers to come to Michigan.

Moravian Drive is the township’s oldest road, dating back to the days when Moravian missionaries settled to attempt to convert the local Native Americans.

Clinton Township is in south-central Macomb County. The city of Mount Clemens, the Macomb county seat, is bordered on three sides by the northeast part of the township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, Clinton Township has a total area of 28.37 square miles (73.5 km), of which 28.03 square miles (72.6 km) are land and 0.35 square miles (0.91 km), or 1.22%, are water. The Clinton River, for which the community is named, is formed from three branches within the township. It runs east into Harrison Township, where it flows into Lake St. Clair. The township is home to many parks, notably George George Memorial Park.

There are two unincorporated communities in the township:

  • Broad Acres is located in the southeastern portion on M-3/Gratiot Avenue between 15 Mile and Quinn Roads (42°32′57″N 82°54′08″W / 42.54917°N 82.90222°W / 42.54917; -82.90222; Elevation: 610 ft./186 m.).

It was founded in 1833 by Chauncey G. Cady. Cady served for a time as township supervisor and was also a member of the state legislature. It had a post office from 1864 until 1906.
